The Department of Mechanical Engineering organized this workshop for Higher Secondary school students & Polytechnic Students to inculcate knowledge in Two Wheeler Maintenance & Trouble Shooting. Totally 133 students of Vidhya Matriculation Higher Secondary School Perumbakkam, Government Higher secondary School Thoraipakkam & Automobile Department Students of Hindustan Institute of Engineering Technology Padappai, participated in the Programme.

  The Programme was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Mr.P.Xavier Jaganathan., CEO, Goodwin Industries Chennai, in presence of Dr.Sumathi Poobal, Vice Principal, Dr.S.Ramesh, Prof. & Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering & Dr.K.Vijayaraja, Prof. & Head, Department of Aeronautical Engineering.

The Programme was coordinated by Mr.D.Muralikrishnan, Asst. Prof., Department of Mechanical Engineering & Mr.A.Sivaramakrishnan, Asst. Prof., Department of Mechanical Engineering.

After Inauguration, the session was handled byMr.D.Muralikrishnan, Asst. Prof., Department of Mechanical Engineering, in which power point presentation will be given on how to do service in schedule, how to maintain the vehicle and also described about the durability of the parts in two wheelers.

The post lunch session was Hands-on training handled bythe team comprises of Mr.D.Muralikrishnan, Asst. Prof., Department of Mechanical Engineering, Mr.A.Sivaramakrishnan,Asst. Prof., Department of Mechanical Engineering, Mr.Periyasamy, Mechanic-KCG & Mr.Bhaskar, Electrician – HITS, about the description of parts in two wheeler by Showing a Pulsar 150 bike followed by the session on how to do Adjustments in Chains, Brakes, Idling tuning, Clutch, Accelerator, Disc Brake and Engine oil change in the above said two wheeler was done. The preventive maintenance of Air filter and carburetor was described.

Also Mr.A.Sivaramakrishnan, Asst. Prof., Department of Mechanical Engineering, described the difference between two stroke engine and four stroke engine using cut section Model and described the Functions of Engines lab.

            Finally the students were sent to aeronautical department to view the lab facilities, there Mr.Venkatramanan, Asst. Prof., Department of Aeronautical Engineering, gave brief introduction about the Laboratories in the Aeronautical department.

            The Participants Certificate was distributed by Mr.S.JesudassThomas, Assoc. Prof., Department of Mechanical Engineering, followed by valedictory address.
