The NSS Unit was started in our college in the year 2004. Since then it has been a vibrant and active unit. National Service Scheme (NSS) of KCG has been rendering yeoman service to the society. NSS has been functioning as a regular feature in the realm of our university education. The overall objective of the scheme is educational and service to the community. It is a student–centered programme in which projects are implemented by the NSS volunteers in close collaboration with the clientele community and scope for the students’ interaction with the people.

While interacting with the community the students learn many things which they cannot learn from theory classes. The NSS scheme is aimed at developing the overall personality of the students in such a way so that the students emerge as responsible individuals encompassing the virtues of life . NSS volunteers are an asset to the society. Students through the NSS activities are engaged in actual work not only within the university campus but also their services extend to schools and colleges. The aim of NSS is to develop a sense of service, team spirit and dignity of labour. The various programmes conducted by the NSS have brought about a remarkable change in their outlook and their attitude towards life and society.

Covid 19 Vaccination Booster Dose Camp

On 22nd April 2022, Covid 19 Vaccination Booster Dose was conducted by Dr. V. Gopal, NSS Programme Officer at KCG College of Technology. The program was inaugurated with the General Health Checkup by our Principal Dr.P.Deiva Sundari and Greater Chennai Health Corporation members

We are happy in sharing with you the information that the NSS of KCG College of technology organized Covid’19 vaccination Booster Dose Camp, cooperating with the Greater Corporation of Chennai, successfully vaccinating 125 of members of our teaching, non-teaching faculty with the Booster dosage of the vaccine and students for second dosage.

World Earth Day – Seed Ball Sowing

The NSS unit of KCG College of Technology jointly organised a seed ball throwing event on 22nd April 2022 in view of World Earth day 2022. This year the theme of the World Earth Day was Invest in our planet and the Seed Ball Sowing was a pertinent event for the theme.

The NSS unit has arranged 25 seed balls containing Neem seeds for the event and the seed balls were thrown near the lake situated on the college road. Small pits were made on the banks of the lake and seed balls were placed and closed with the soil. Dr. V Gopal, NSS Coordinator, and staff members Dr. Jose Anand, and Dr. R. Lakshmipathy along with the 6 NSS students of KCG took part in the event.

General Health Check-Up Camp

On 22nd April 2022, General Health Check-Up was conducted by Dr. V. Gopal, NSS Programme Officer at KCG College of Technology. The program was inaugurated with the General Health Checkup by our Principal Dr.P.Deiva Sundari, Dr Vasundara S. P , Dr Shalini L , Dr Subhu Lakshmi S. We are happy in sharing with you the information that the NSS of KCG College of technology organized General Health Check-Up Camp cooperating with The Homeopathic Cure plus of Chennai, successfully general heath checkup list (BP Checking, Sugar Checking, Auscultation, General health management tips, Diet plan for the sugar and BP, Psychological guidelines etc) for 94 of members of our Teaching and Non-Teaching Faculty

NSS-Blood Donation Camp

On 2nd April 2022, Blood Donation Camp was conducted by Dr. V. Gopal, NSS Programme Officer at KCG College of Technology. The program was inaugurated with the blood donation by our Principal Dr.P.Deiva Sundari, and J Madanagopal Rao, Senior Counsel -Central Government and it went on well with the enthusiastic participants of KCG College of Technology, staffs and students. At the end of the program 100 units of blood was donated by the donors to save many lives.
We thank our Management, Staffs and Students for giving their valuable support to make the NSS activity a grand success.

Food Distributed to Little Hearts Home

We are happy in sharing with you the information that the NSS of KCG College of Technology and my Friends organized Food distributed to Little Heart Home Children’s (Empowering Differently Abled) on 10th April 2022, at Little Hearts Home , Panaiyur Chennai, his team distributed the chicken Briyani, Egg brinjal raita and Onion Raita

NSS-Blood Donation Camp

On 9th August 2019, Blood Donation Camp was conducted by Mr. V. Gopal, NSS Programme Officer at KCG College of Technology. The program was inaugurated with blood donation by the college Principal Dr.G.Prabhakaran and Lions Club Members .It went on well with enthusiastic participants -staff and students of KCG College of Technology. At the end of the program 261 units of blood was donated by the donors to save many lives. The Blood Bank & Research Centre is run by Sri. Mahalakshmi Charitable Health Trust, at T. Nagar, Chennai.

We thank our Management, Staff and Students for giving their valuable support to make the NSS activity a grand success.

Independence Day Program

On Independence Day celebrated on 15th August, 2019, students and faculty members filled with a feeling of patriotism and dedication gathered together and the celebration started with the hoisting of the National Flag by Dr.G.Prabhakaran, Principal,KCG College of Technology. The Principal in his speech, highlighted that the students should feel proud to be ‘Indians’ and being a citizen of a large democratic country. He reminded all should participate in voting which is a fundamental right of every citizen. Being in an educated society, we should maintain discipline at all places and at all times. By maintaining silence we never lose anything like pride, instead we gain a lot of appreciation. He also gave an insight on the various accomplishments achieved by college and motivated the crowd for bringing more laurels for the college through their accomplishments.

As a gratitude of appreciation, certificates for the NCC Officer Mr.C.Akin and NCC students were issued by Dr.G.Prabhakaran, Principal ,Dr Sarukesi, Dean Academic , Dr Anitha Manuel ,Dean (SA) and Professors of KCG College of Technology. The function ended with the National Anthem.

Tree Plantation Programme

Tree plantation programme was conducted by KCG College of Technology, Chennai along with NSS Cell on 24th September,2019. An extensive Plantation Programme was launched on the occasion of our Chairperson Dr Elizabeth Verghese’s birthday. The programme was inaugurated by Dr.G.Prabhakaran -Principal, Dr Sarukesi-Dean Academic, Dr.P Deiva Sundari – Associate Dean Industry Partnership & Corporate Affairs, HoDs, Staff and Students.. The dignitaries planted tree sampling in our college campus. In this campaign around 1080 sampling were planted by NSS volunteers in different parts of our campus. The students and faculty selected the empty places and the roadsides to plant saplings in a well-organised way. Participants were highly enthusiastic to make it a big success. The students also planted saplings, fenced them and watered the plants.

Empowering Differently Abled

Differently Abled Children’s programme was conducted by KCG College of Technology, Chennai along with NSS Cell on 6th September 2019. The students came from Muscular Dystrophy School Thousand Lights, Chennai and reached our campus at 10.00am. We first had the introduction of each special kid. Nearly 13 Differently Abled students ,15 Parents and one Teacher had visited our college. The programme was inaugurated by Dr.G.Prabhakaran, Principal, Dr Sarukesi, Dean Academic, Dr.P. Deiva Sundari, Associate Dean – Industry Partnership & Corporate Affairs, HoDs, Staff and Students.

The Differently Abled students visited various labs like Aero Hanger, SAE car, Automobile Lab and Fashion Technology lab and attended presentations in our college campus. The students showed so much enthusiasm and the happiness on their faces clearly showed they enjoyed a lot. Later Fashion Technology Department distributed handkerchiefs and Mechanical Department distributed lunch bags, stainless steel water bottle and lunch boxes for each child during the campaign. As the day was coming to end we realized the importance of everything we have and how we forget to appreciate the small things we complain about. At last, we all had to leave with a heavy heart.

Empowering Differently Abled for Children’s Day Program

We went to Muscular Dystrophy School Thousand Lights, Chennai, a school to differently-abled students on 14th November 2019 (Children’s Day Program). We first met with the Teacher and the Parents. We reached there by 10 am and the special children welcomed us with warm wishes and hugged us. After takings introductions of each special kid we played fun games, sang songs, danced and these games evoked the enthusiasm and happiness in the kids and they enjoyed a lot.

Later we distributed the book, stationeries, chocolates, to the children during the campaign we collected from our school children. They were so overjoyed while receiving books. As the day was coming to an end we realized the importance of everything we have and how we forget to appreciate the small things.

NSS-Eye Checkup Camp

On 11th March 2019, Eye Checkup Camp was conducted by Mr. V. Gopal, NSS Programme Officer at KCG College of Technology. The program was inaugurated with the Eye Checkup camp by our Principal Dr.G.Prabhakaran, Dr.Sumathi Poobal,Vice Principal, Dr Sarukesi, Dean Academic, Professors KCG College of Technology and Lions Club Members along with the Mugavari Eye Hospital Chennai and it went on well with the enthusiastic participants of KCG College of Technology, Staffs and Students.

Road Safety awareness Program

On 09 February 2019, Road Safety awareness Program was conducted by Chennai Traffic Police is conducting a week long Road Safety awareness program. As a part of it, TN Police Traffic Wardens, KCG College of Technology Students and Traffic Police men, conducted Road Safety awareness at Sholinganallur Junction

Anti- Worm Medication

On 08 February 2019, Anti- Worm Medication was conducted by Mr. V. Gopal, NSS Programme Officer at KCG College of Technology. The program was inaugurated with the anti- worm medication. By our Principal Dr.G.Prabhakaran, and it went on well with the enthusiastic participants of KCG College of Technology, Staffs and Students.

Republic Day

The celebration of the 70th Republic Day on the 26th January, 2019. Students, Staff and Faculty members filled with a feeling of patriotism and dedication gathered in front of the building. Fire Safety Awareness Program

On 28th July 2018, Fire Safety Awareness Program was conducted by Mr. V. Gopal, NSS Programme Officer at KCG College of Technology and A.Fatheeh- Station Officer at Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Service. The program was headed by Dr.G.Prabhakaran, Principal, KCG College of Technology. There were nearly 70 students & 20 faculties from various departments have participated the program.

The Participants were taken classes by Fire and Safety Officer on various aspects of fire safety, alerting on code red, management in fire accidents and demonstration was done on use of fire extinguishers and use of water to extinguish fire. All the participants rehearsed and demonstrated the use of extinguishers and water hose to extinguish fire.

Blood Donation Camp

On 7th Septemper 2018, Blood Donation Camp was conducted by Mr. V. Gopal, NSS Programme Officer at KCG College of Technology. The program was inaugurated with the blood donation by our Principal Dr.G.Prabhakaran, Vice Principal and Lions Club Members and it went on well with the enthusiastic participants of KCG College of Technology, staffs and students. At the end of the program 237 units of blood was donated by the donors to save many lives.

Distribution of Nilavembu Kudineer

On 7th Septemper 2018, Nilavembu kudineer was conducted by Mr. V. Gopal, NSS Programme Officer at KCG College of Technology. The program was inaugurated with the Nilavembu kudineer by our Principal Dr.G.Prabhakaran, and Dean Academic Dr K.Sarukesi and it went on well with the enthusiastic participants of KCG College of Technology, staffs and students.

Kerala Relief

Kerala saw its worst ever rainfall in 100 years, the city and its suburbs were pounded with heavy rainfall. 1000’s were stranded and needed help. KCG College of Technology under the guidance of the CEO & Director of KCG College of Technology, a team of KCG Staff actively involved themselves in the relief activity.

Tree Plantation

Many trees were planted by the NSS unit in the college campus on 04.10.2017 to make the green environment and to fight global warming. The students and staffs were requested to plant more tree at their residence.

New India Pledge

Our NSS cell has created an awareness about new India pledge and made all the staffs and students of our college to take the pledge on 09.08.2017 for the clean, Peacefuland wealthy nation.

Volunteering Services

NSS Volunteers of KCG college of Technology got medals for their best volunteering service in 4th Youth Health Mela2018, at Anna University on 23rd and 24th February 2018.

Blood Donation Camp

NSS Unit and YRC of KCG college of Technology have jointly organized a blood donation camp along with Lions club on 22.12-2017 and many volunteers from students and staffs have appeared and donated blood to save lives.

Bags to School

Our NSS cell and Y’s man club, Chennai, has organized a program to distribute the bags to school kids on 11.07.2017. NSS cell has volunteered to distribute more than two thousand bags to the students of many schools in the city.

NSS Activity(2016-2017)

1.Swachh Bharat Abhiyan

NSS Unit and various department of KCG College of Technology conducted the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Programme on 12.07.16 at campus . The programme was inaugurated by the Principal and students & staff actively participated in swacch campus program to clean up the campus premises and surroundings.

2.Blood Donation Camp

NSS Unit of KCG College of Technology, Karapakkam, Chennai Organized Blood Donation Camp in association with Y’s Men Club of Mylapore and Lions Club of Golden Bharath on 05.08.2016 in the College Campus. The programme was inaugurated by the Principal Dr.G.Prabhakaran , KCG College of Technology. Totally 181 Units of Blood were Collected from the Student and Staff of the College.

3.Vigilance Awareness Week

NSS Unit of KCG College of Technology, Karapakkam, Chennai organized Vigilance Awareness Week on 03.11.2016 in the College Campus. The programme was inaugurated by the Principal Dr.G.Prabhakaran , KCG College of Technology. The Principal initiated the pledge against the corruption, student and staff members followed the pledge.

6. SPECIAL CAMP

NSS Special Camp was Organized for 07 days from 15.0.17 to 21.03.17 at Perungudi Village Panchayat School. There are 50 NSS Volunteers from college were attended in the Special Camp. In addition to that, 200 students from Perungudi Panchayat schools were helped the volunteers. The following activities were conducted during this Camp.

  • Inauguration Programme by Dr.G.Prabhakaran ,Principal,KC Tech and Head Master Perungudi Panchayat School.
  • Motivation Programme for Students by Mr.A.Balaji and Mr.R.Siva, KCG College of Technology, Chennai-97.
  • NSS Volunteers donated Stationary items to 25 Students of “ Perungudi Panchayat School“
  • Computer awareness training program was arranged by NSS Volunteers. More than 200 school students were benefited by this program.
  • School Campus Cleaning work were done by NSS Volunteers including Temple and Street.
  • Planting Tree samples in Perungudi Panchayat schools.
  • Conducted various sport events for students of Perungudi Panchayat School.
  • Valedictory function was conducted in the last day of the Camp.

NSS Annual Report (2015-2016)

1.International Day of Yoga

NSS and YRC Unit of KCG College of Technology conducted the International Day of Yoga Programme on 21.06.15 at campus in Mother Teresa Block at 6.00 AM. The programme was inaugurated by the Principal. The yoga masters taught various yoga positions to the staffs and students of the college.

2.Swachh Bharat Abhiyan

NSS Unit and various department of KCG College of Technology conducted the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Programme on 22.06.15 to 26.07.15 at campus . The programme was inaugurated by the Principal and students & staff actively participated in swacch campus program to clean up the campus premises and surroundings.

3.Helmet Awareness Programme

NSS Unit & Youth Red Cross of KCG College of Technology conducted Helmet Awareness on 11.07.2015 in campus Mirza seminar theater started at 10.00 AM. The programme was inaugurated by the Principal and chief guest . The chief guest for this programme is Mr.S.Venkatraj , Inspector of Police Traffic, Thoraipakkam , Chennai. Chief Guest talk to advised all of them to follow the traffic rules as well to take safety precautions while driving vehicles, especially two wheelers should wear the helmets while driving.

4.Awareness Programme

NSS and YRC Units of KCG College of Technology, Karapakkam, Chennai Organized the Documentary film about Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi was screened at Mirza hall on 24.08.2015.

7.Youth Awakening Day

NSS Unit & Youth Red Cross of KCG College of Technology conducted Celebration of Birthday of Bharat Ratna Dr.A.P.J Abdul Kalam on 15.10.2015 as YOUTH AWAKENING DAY at campus Mirza seminar theater started at 10.45 AM. The programme was inaugurated by the Principal. The chief guest for this programme is Pro.Dr.S.E.Revathi Kirubakaran, Department of English,Govt.Arts College for Men (Autonomous),Nandanam, Chennai.Students listened Chief Guest talks on how the late President inspired the current generation of youngsters as a role model.

8.KCG Relief Camp from 8.12.15 to 12.12.15

Chennai saw its worst ever rainfall in 100 years, the city and its suburbs were pounded with heavy rainfall. 1000’s were stranded and needed help. KCG College of Technology under the guidance of the CEO& Director of KCG College of Technology, a team of KCGians actively involved themselves in the relief activity, The Principal, Vice Principal, HODs, staff and students participated in the process of sourcing, packing and distributing the relief material to the needy.

9.Republic Day

NSS Unit &YRC of KCG College of Technology Celebrated Republic Day with all our college Staff and Students. March past, flag hosting and cultural events were celebrated.

10.Tree Plantation Programme

Tree plantation programme was conducted by the KCG College of Technology NSS and YRC on 03-03-2016. The programme was inaugurated by the Vice-Principal Dr.Sumathi Poobal at 10.00 am. NSS volunteer have planted about 75 sampling trees in our campus.

11.Special Camp Report

NSS Special Camp was Organized for 07 days from 24.03.16 to 30.03.16 at Perungudi Village Panchayat School. There are 50 NSS Volunteers from college were attended in the Special Camp. In addition to that, 200 students from Perungudi Panchayat schools were helped the volunteers. The following activities were conducted during this Camp.
