Suganya and Secretary as C. Akshaya(IV Year / Students).Dr. H. G. Sreenathdiscussed about ICI chapters all over India and its various operations, followed by his technical speech.
DAY 1 |
|
1 | Expert Lecture 1 – Important Parameters that govern the Durability of Concrete Structures
Dr. H. G. Sreenath Technical Director, CCTRF, Chennai |
The lecture gave the basic knowledge about the composition of concrete, their behaviour and their properties. The session also provided information about the durability of structures, its importance and ways to achieve durability.
|
|
2 | Expert Lecture 2 – Fundamentals of Concrete Technology
Dr.K.Balasubramanian Managing Director, Hitech Concrete Solutions Pvt Ltd, Chennai |
The session was very interactive during the lecture and gave us a brief and self-explanatory lecture on concrete technology. His lecture was mainly concentrated on the area of fly ash as the mineral admixtures in concrete and he also explained about the various water cement ratios used in concrete mixes. He discussed various issues in concrete with real time examples
3 | Expert Lecture 3 – Overview on Eco-Friendly Geopolymer concrete with low carbon foot-print
Dr.N.P.Rajamane Head, Centre for Advanced Concrete Research, SRM University, Chennai |
The lecture was mainly concentrated on the use of geopolymer in concrete. The session also explained how GPCs can be designed to possess satisfactory structural and durability performances related characteristics with low carbon foot-print.
4 | Expert Lecture 4 – Properties and Prospects of concrete with low carbon cement (LC3)
Mr.YuvarajDhandapani Research Scholar, IIT Madras |
The lecture was about the research project experience on low carbon cement (LC3) of the speaker. He explained about the ingredients and the properties of LC3. The lecture also gave a clear idea about the hurdles we will face while doing a project in concrete. |
DAY 2 |
|
1 | Expert Lecture 5 – Importance of long-term performance of concrete systems
Mr.T.Sakthivel Research Scholar, IIT Madras |
The first lecture of the second day was very interesting and explaining about the importance of age of the structures while designing the concrete mix design. The long term effect on concrete such as creep, shrinkage and its behaviour were discussed in detail and factors to be considered to overcome the same were also discussed.
2 | Expert Lecture 6 – Advanced Cement Based Composites – A New Innovation in Materials Technology
Dr.M.Neelamegam Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, Easwari Engineering College |
The speakers explained about various new materials used in the industry in present scenario. Different composites used in the concrete to achieve greater strength and distinct functional requirement were explained with suitable pictures were discussed in this session.
3 | Expert Lecture 7 – Special Concretes
Mr.S.Ramakrishnan,Business Development Manager Technical Sales Division, BekaertMukand Wire Industries Pvt Ltd. |
This session was the most interactive and active session among two days of the seminar. The speaker gave many practical ideas about various types of concrete prepared in various countries all over the world. Concrete such as translucent concrete, foam concrete, low cement concrete, etc were also discussed.
4 | Expert Lecture 8 – Performance of High-Volume Fly-ash Concrete
Dr. P.S.Joanna Professor, Department of Civil Engineering Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science |
The last lecture of the two days seminar explained various properties of high volume fly ash concrete and the experimental investigation done by the author to study the various properties of the high-volume fly-ash replaced structures in her research project. An extensive idea about the behaviour and properties of high volume fly ash concrete was the yield of the session. |
