Venue: Christ University, Mysore Road, Bangalore, Karnataka.
The Finals for the TATA Crucible Hackathon was held at Christ University, Bangalore where teams from 4 different centers across the country participated. The entries for the development began in February and over 773 teams participated in this competition in south zone from which 25 teams were shortlisted for the finals held in Bangalore.
The team “Technovative” from the ECE department of KCG College of Technology was shortlisted for the finals of the TATA crucible Hackathon under the ‘Pothole Detection’ theme. The team was one among the 25 teams to reach the finals.
The team consisted of 6 members, Nivedha V V (6A), Jacob Paul (6A), Jonadab Theodore (6A), Ashok T (6A), Arun A (6A), and Divyaa T (6A) with Dr. V.Thulasi Bai, Head of Department for ECE as their mentor and had their center at Christ University- Bangalore.
The team presented a Module for Pothole detection and Mapping it on GMaps using IoT. Indian roads have many potholes which causes lots of accidents. This particular hardware kit helps the public to detect the pothole, noise and illuminance level of the road and label it on the Google map in all seasons even in night time. It uses IoT approach, which is an efficient method in storing and retrieving data for quick use.
The Hackathon at Christ University began with a short presentation by the experts from TATA Group. There were two rounds of evaluation and the judges had several suggestions to improvise the module. The team was shortlisted for the top four, which was to pitch the product to the Jury and the audience and won 3rd prize from among the 25 teamswho qualified for the finals.
