QUAD-COPTER WORKSHOP BY i3indya
The Department of Mechanical engineering conducted a two-day workshop on Quad-copter from March 15-16, 2017. An inaugural meeting was arranged on the first day at 10:30am. It began with a prayer song by the Department Choir. Later, the Head of the Department, Dr.S Ramesh gave the welcome speech inviting the Vice-principal, i3indiya resource person Mr. Gaurav Singh, faculty and participants to the workshop. He concluded by conveying the necessity of such workshops and how students will be benefit from them by acquiring practical knowledge that is not covered in course syllabuses. Later he welcomed Dr.Sumathi Poobal to address the students and inaugurate the two-day workshop.
She inspired students with an informative speech, in which she talked about the various applications of drones and unmanned aerial vehicles. She also mentioned how workshops can prove useful for the students while conducting projects, and participating in various competitions.
She also advised the students to always have the endeavour to learn new things, and urged them to work more in the field of quad-copter. She concluded her speech by officially inaugurating the workshop. And welcomed the trainer to address the student and start the first session.
In the first session, Mr. Gaurav Singh from i3indya introduced the major topics that were to be covered in the two-day workshop. This was followed by a question-answer session in which the students opened up about their ideas and thoughts on quad-copter. Later, the trainer explained the basic parts that make a robot and illustrated a few modern robots currently used in nations around the world for different purposes. He also gave a brief introduction to the embedded system in robots and its vast application in the modern world. The first session concluded by 12:50pm.
The second session of the workshop, on programming and BLDC motor interfacing started at 1:50 pm. In this session, Mr.Gaurav talked about how the programming behind robotics could be applied in quad-copters. He spoke about the various types of processors used in robotics and how BLDC motor interfacing can be done in quad-copters.
