ABOUT EXPELLO’23

Robotics is a key field of specialization in Mechatronics. Department of Mechatronics Engineering, KCG College of Technology has put forward the National Level Robotics Competition – EXPELLO’23 which strives to combine the excitement of sport with the extensiveness of science and technology. The event comprises of various competitions where the abilities of the robot are tested and assessed based on the criteria of the specific competition and exciting prizes are awarded for the winning bots and the team. The event is planned to be conducted on 05.04.2023.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE

Students from any branch of Engineering / Polytechnic can participate as a team.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

GENERAL RULES

  • A team may consist of a maximum of 4 members.
  • Each participant must produce identity card of their respective institute at the time of registration. Only students with a valid identity card are eligible to participate.
  • Only 2 team members are allowed to be near the game field while starting the bot.
  • Preliminary round may be conducted based on the registration strength.
  • No test practice is allowed on the arena.
  • The game will start only when organizers give the signal.
  • Time is calculated from the time the robot begins from the starting line until the time it crosses the finishing line.
  • Decision of the jury is considered final.
  • Violation of rules or any unethical behavior leads to disqualification at jury’s discretion. Participation certificates will be given to all teams except the disqualified teams.

BOT SPECIFICATIONS

  • Bot dimension should be a maximum of 25 cm x 25 cm x 25 cm.
  • Maximum weight of the bot – 2 Kg.
  • Each team is allowed to have only one autonomous bot.
  • Any readymade bot is disqualified.
  • The voltage anywhere in the bot should not exceed 12V
  • Participants should bring their components and power supply for their bots.
  • Power supply must be on-board.

  • The game will start only when organizers give the signal.

  • Participation certificates will be given to all teams except the disqualified teams.

  • Participation certificates will be given to all teams except the disqualified teams.
  • Decision of the jury is considered final.
  • Violation of rules or any unethical behavior leads to disqualification at the jury’s discretion.

BOT SPECIFICATIONS

  • The bot must not exceed 30 cm x 30 cm x 20 cm (l x b x h).
  • The voltage anywhere in the bot should not exceed 12V
  • Max weight – 5 kg.
  • Each team is allowed to have only one autonomous bot.
  • Any readymade bot is disqualified.
  • Team members should bring their components and power supply for their bots.
  • Power supply must be on-board

  • Each participant must produce an identity card of their respective institute at the time of registration. Only students with valid identity cards are eligible to participate.
  • Only 2 team members are allowed to be near the game field while starting the bot.

  • The game is similar to normal football tournaments.
  • The participant can drive, push or hit the ball to the goalpost
  • Maximum time given to each team is 5 minutes.
  • Points will be given as per the number of goals within the given time limit. However, points will be reduced for the number of fouls.
  • Immobilization of 15 sec leads to disqualification of the bot.
  • The Arena will be revealed only on the day of the particular event. Time will be given to the participants before the game starts to view the arena and plan their strategy.
  • Position of the balls in the arena will be decided by the event coordinator on the particular day of the event.
  • Further instructions on the game will be given after registration.

  • In the case of wired control, the participants must ensure that the wire length is at least 5 meters.

OVERVIEW OF THE WORKSHOP

  • A brief Lecture on Industrial Robots and their applications.
  • Hands-on session in Robotic Simulation software.
