Hackathon combines the terms “hacking” and “marathon” and implies an intense, uninterrupted, period of programming. More specifically, a Hackathon is a highly engaging, continuous event in which people in small groups produce a working software prototype in a limited amount of time.
KCG Hackathon 2019 is an 6 hours Software Hackathon organized by the Programming club of KCG College of Technology in collaboration with Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) on 01st March 2019. 17 teams (Total 45 participants) from 5 colleges participated in the event hacking some real problems.

The event started with an Icebreaking session. Mr. Dorai Thodla briefed the rules and regulation of the Hackathon. The Coding Timer started running at 09.30 am
The theme of the Hackathon was “AI in Teaching and Learning”.
Participants were asked to work on any of the following categories:
- Chatbots
- ML based prediction applications
- ML based recommendation systems
- UX Design for Learning/Teaching Applications
- Animations or Explainer videos of an AI/ML concept
Participants were asked to produce any one of the outcomes from the above categories.
- A working prototype (code)
- A UI/UX prototype (using Balsamiq or any other wire framing technology)
- An animation of how the product works

The valedictory ceremony started at 6.00 pm. Principal Dr. G Prabhakaran and Dr. M. Krishnamurthy, HoD-CSE addressed the gathering. The prizes for first 3 teams were sponsored by EDII and the prizes were distributed by the EDII team. The programme ended with the vote of thanks by Mr. S Cloudin, Associate Professor, Dept. Of CSE.
