Day 1 – Session 1 – Inaugural Function

Dr. S. R. Satish Kumar, Professor, Structural Engineering Division, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, was the Chief Guest of the Inaugural function of the Three days Faculty Development Program.

Dr. G. Prabhakaran, Principal, KCG College of Technology, Dr. K. Sarukesi, Dean Academic, KCG College of Technology and Dr. Vandhana Devi, Head of the Department, Department of Civil Engineering, KCG College of Technology presided over the function.

The Inaugural function started with the lighting of the lamp by the chief guest and all the dignitaries and Tamizh thai vazhthu.

Dr. V. Vandhana Devi welcomed the Chief guest, Principal, Dean and all the participants. She emphasised on the need for faculty development programs for faculty members. She also elaborated about the three days faculty development program on Limit state design of steel structures.

Dr. G. Prabhakaran delivered the presidential address in appreciating the department for organizing the faculty development program and also encouraging the department in conducting such activities continuously in the future.

Dr. K. Sarukesi addressed the gathering appreciating the department for organizing the faculty development program and discussed about the role of civil engineers in the society and also suggested books that have to be read by all civil engineers.

Dr. S. R. Satish Kumar delivered the inaugural address in the need for such programs for the teaching faculties to enhance their technical knowledge and encouraged the participants to observe and learn from the lecturing skills of the different resource persons.

Mr. M. Pitchi Rajan thanked the chief guest, all the dignitaries and the participants for showing their interest in participating in the faculty development program by delivering the vote of thanks.
