Department of EEE organises ‘Student Solar Ambassadors Workshop’

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering of KCG College of Technology in association with Energy Swaraj Foundation has conducted online “Student Solar Ambassador Workshop-2020” under the theme of Global Clean Environment Movement on 02.10.2020. It is a global event and students from many countries have participated in this one-day event from their respective premises. In our college, 60 students from the departments of EEE, EIE and ECE have attended this workshop. The workshop is aimed to celebrate the Gandhian principles of self-sufficiency and as the International Day of Non-Violence towards Environment. The Solar PV Technology is one of the fast-growing renewable energy which does not harm the environment. As a green campus, KCG College of Technology continuously providing its support for nation to create awareness among the youngsters and guiding them to utilize the renewable energy sources.
Programme Schedule
At 10am Dr. Chetan Singh Solanki welcomed and initiated the webinar. He also discussed about,
- Sensitization towards current climate scenario and climate change
- Introduction to Energy and Electricity
- Why solar energy is better than conventional source of energy?
- Benefits and usage of Solar Energy
The first speaker Dr.Vijayaraghavan , Pricipale scientific Advisor to Govt. of India discussed about various technological development about renewable energy sources.
The next speaker was Ms.Licy Priya Kangujam a 8 years old climate activist, Founder, The child Movement. She spoke about pollution due various activities and role on the children about saving the planet.
Dr.Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairman-AICTE talked about Mahatma Gandhi and his mission. He also congratulated Dr.Chetan Singh Solanki for organizing Student’s Solar Ambassador workshop in order to create awareness on solar energy. He also talked about solar internship for the students provided by AICTE.
Prof. Subhasis Chaudhari, Director IIT Bombay, spoke about needs of energy using the renewable energy sources like solar energy. He also asked the students to take pledge on using renewable energy.
Then Mrs. Ela Gandhi, Padma Bhushan awardee and grand daughter of Mahatma Gandhi spoke through telephonic conversation about Gandhi mission on energy resource. She also talked about energy conservation.
At 11.50am again Dr. Chetan Singh Solanki discussed about solar irradiation and asked to follow the AMG (Avoid, Minimize, Generate) rule. He asked to avoid some appliances which consume more energy and to minimize energy requirements and to create energy from renewable energy sources. He also explained about solar thump rule for life which states the usage of off grid solar PV system which provides the zero electricity bills.
Later Mrs. Dia Mirza, actor, Producer and UN Environment Goodwill Ambassador advised to all the youngsters to do the meditation for getting peaceful mind in order to achieve what we want. She also talked about climate action and important of reduce and reuse and recycling of resources. Later she had a discussion with Dr.Chetan Singh Solanki about installing solar energy and its feasibility.
Dr.Anil Kakodkar discussed about energy swaraj foundation and what the government can do to achieve Gandhiji mission . He also stated about carbon emission and significance of the event.
At the end of the webinar Dr. Chetan Singh Solanki thanked all the participants from all schools and colleges who actively participated in this webinar.
