Department of Fashion Technology arranged a Guest Lecture of Shri. Subhash Kumar, Freelance Designer for the staff and students of the department on 28-02-2019 at Conference Hall, Dean Office. Shri.Subhash Kumar Chirayil Gopalan graduated as a Textile Engineer in 2001 from the Indian Institute of Handlooms and Textiles, Govt of India, Ministry of Textiles, Salem and specialisation in Textile Designing from London under the guidance of Mrs. Rebecca Hoyes, Associate Lecturer, Central St. Martins, University of Arts London.The designer elaborated about his journey and the success stories of projects he handled viz. Revival of ancient woven textiles to suit modern interiors, Floral Lampas – A Revival Project, Jacobean patterns, Banarasi Handloom uniform saree project for Taj Group and Kokeshi – an exclusive collection for a celebrity Pop Singer. Endorsing the sketches created by the students, he guided the students how to transfer their sketches into fabric with required texture and structure from which the targeted garment is stitched. He has also assured to conduct 4 days’ workshop to demonstrate the same in future.
