About the
Department

Established in 2011, the Department of Civil Engineering is committed to providing quality education and developing competent civil engineers equipped with strong theoretical knowledge, practical skills, professional ethics, and innovative thinking. The department offers an undergraduate programme designed to prepare students to meet the evolving demands of the construction and infrastructure sectors.

The department is supported by highly qualified and experienced faculty members and is equipped with excellent infrastructure, including state-of-the-art laboratories, modern classrooms, and advanced teaching and learning facilities. The department is also honoured to have Dr. U. Johnson Alengaram, Professor & Director, Centre for Innovative Construction Technology (CICT) Engineering, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, as an Adjunct Faculty.

Faculty members actively engage in research, innovation, consultancy, and professional development, with research activities focusing on emerging technologies and innovative solutions to contemporary challenges in civil engineering. The department also undertakes industrial consultancy projects and organizes conferences, workshops, seminars, guest lectures, and other professional development activities to strengthen academic and industry interaction.

The department places strong emphasis on experiential and industry-oriented learning. Industry experts are regularly invited to interact with students and faculty members through expert lectures, technical sessions, and knowledge-sharing programmes. Students are provided with practical exposure through industrial visits, field visits to dams and irrigation structures, construction sites, and other civil engineering projects, enabling them to connect classroom learning with real-world engineering practices.

The department continues to foster a vibrant academic and professional environment through industry collaboration, research activities, skill development programmes, student-centric activities, and career-oriented initiatives. The department is proud of its 100% placement record in core companies, reflecting its commitment to developing industry-ready civil engineering professionals.
