The college is recognised as a “Scientific and Industrial Research Organization” (SIRO) by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Government of India. It has been granted “12B” status by the University Grants Commission (UGC). KCG Tech receives external funding from recognised government and private agencies for a slew of projects.

KCG Tech is an Anna University Approved Research centre for Ph.D programs in 6 streams – CSE, ECE, EEE, Mechanical, Physics and Chemistry. Our programs offer cutting-edge research tracks, advanced academic training and opportunities to collaborate with industry leaders and top researchers across the globe. Currently over 80 scholars are pursuing their doctorate at our institute, ably guided by 42 approved research supervisors. Scholars can pursue either Full-time or Part-time PH.D programmes.
