The Science and Humanities Department at KCG Tech plays a pivotal role by providing essential foundational courses and interdisciplinary perspectives for other departments. Through its diverse curriculum, the department enhances students’ critical thinking, communication skills, and ethical understanding, laying the groundwork for their technical and professional success. Its integration of scientific principles with humanities enriches the overall educational experience and helps meet critical programme objectives.
The Department has four divisions: Chemistry, English, Mathematics and Physics.
The Physics division is recognized by the Anna University as a research centre; and offers doctoral programmes that promote domain and interdisciplinary research activities.
The Chemistry division focuses on imparting the knowledge of applied chemistry. It has recently been recognized as a Research Centre by Anna University and has started offering the Ph.D programme in Chemistry from 2023.
The Science and Mathematics division designs and delivers courses on the applications of basic sciences in engineering and technology. It enhances the analytical and logical thinking of the students by providing training on quantitative aptitude.
The English division focuses on honing language and soft skills, helping students gain the confidence to be industry ready.
