Achievements

The department has a great record of both academic and non-academic achievements. Our students take active part in seminars, competitions, workshops and events, including at the national and international level. We regularly publish in all leading journals and our faculty has been awarded multiple times for excellence in teaching.

Faculty secured patents including “Motorized Lead Screw System for Robotic Hole Drilling” (App No. 399211-001), “Specialized Bed with Robotic Clamping for Medical Procedures” (App No. 399213-001), “Precision Extendable Robotic Arm employing Hydraulics and LVDT Sensor” (App No. 202341075879), “AI based Semi-automatic Window Washing System for Government Buses” (App No. 202341075880), “Method for AI-Powered Predictive Maintenance in Smart Manufacturing Systems” (App No. 202541041995).

Conducted 5-day FDP on “Integration of Automotives and Smart Mechatronics System for Sustainable Mobility”(31st January to 4th February, 2024).

Conducted National Level Robotics Competition “EXPELLO-23”, successfully on 5th April,2023.

Conducted value-added programs such as “Basics of Robot Assembly and Programming”, “Automotive Electrical and Electronics”, “Robotics Basics and Programming”, “3D Modelling of Mechanical Structures using Fusion 360”, and “Value Added Program on Robotics”.

Organized student-centric programs including “Basics of Electrical Vehicles and MATLAB”, “Technology Innovation Forum for Agricultural Nurturing (TIFAN) 2023”, “Design Thinking Approach: Robotics in Factory Automation”, “Aspiring Career in Mechatronics Industries”, “EV Technology”, and “Innovative Design and Development of Hydrogen Powered IC Engines”.

  • Organized many workshops and seminars including “Basics of MATLAB” (4 Nov 2023), “Design Thinking Approach: Robotics in Factory Automation” (9 Mar 2024).
  • Attended FDPs: “Integrating AIoT Electrical Technologies” (SRI Muthukumar an Institute ATAL, 8-13 Sep 2025), “CO PO Mapping” seminar (KCG, 10 Sep 2025) and ATAL online FDPs.
  • Introduced pedagogies: Simulation-based stepper motor learning.

Ms. R. PRIYADARSHINI

  • Visited FANUC India Pvt. Ltd., Chennai on 28 August 2025 to explore opportunities for student internships, industry-connected curriculum development, and industrial visits.
  • Organized Arduino hands-on training sessions and poster presentation events for department students and members of the Robotics Club.
  • Attended several ATAL Online Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs).

Dhanush K R, Vasanth Solomon S, Hariprasath J (2019-23 batch) and Shanmugapriya M applied patent for their academic project titled “Energy harvesting and data collection using kinetic Tiles”

Students secured prizes in prestigious innovation and technical competitions such as Smart India Hackathon 2022 (Hardware & Software Editions), Yantra Innovation Challenge (Second Prize – Team led by Adithyaa S.), Innovation Challenge-2K24 (Jegan Gnanasekaran, Sanjeev Rajan, Prasanna G., Nitheesh S., Harihara Balaji S.), TIFAN Automated Multi-Vegetable Transplanter (Team led by Angely Printana J.), and Krida-Yanthrik Soccer Bot (Kishoure Kumar B.).

Students presented research papers at various National and International Conferences, including the International Conference on Recent Advances in Innovations in Science, Technology, Engineering & Management held at Loyola Institute of Technology. Notable papers include “Design and Manufacturing of Planetary Gearbox” by Nithish R. and team and “An Assessment of Efficiency and Emission Properties of Bio-Oil” by Sanjeev Kumar K. and team.

Jagadish J. S. (Batch 2019–2023) received the Best Student Researcher Award and Young Achiever Rising Star Award from Rotary International.

Our students actively participated in the IET Smart City Challenge, working on innovative projects such as the Self-Repairing Smart Pavement System.

Our department students Vidhun Roshan and Sudharsan won medals in cricket tournaments, including the Anna University Inter-Zonal Tournament 2025–26.

Our department students successfully completed the NSIC Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme and received certificates from Shri Tiruchi N. Siva, Member of Parliament, Tamil Nadu.
