Content
The Department of Mechanical Engineering leverages its foundational disciplines to address critical areas of current and future relevance. Since the academic year 2015, the department has been recognized as a nodal research center by Anna University, Chennai. Currently, the research center is home to three supervisors and 32 research scholars.
Research activities are carried out on Machining, Manufacturing, Metal Joining, Modeling, Artificial Intelligence, Characterization, Supply chain, Materials, Heat Transfer, Alternate Fuels, IC Engines, Solar Energy, Vibration and condition monitoring studies, Hybrid Systems, MRF Dampers, Polymer Composites and Metal Matrix Composites.
Our faculty have undertaken research projects totaling nearly Rs. 20 lakhs, including those under the AICTE RPS Scheme. The department has received nearly INR 24 lakh in funding from DST –IEDC, AICTE(RPS), IE(I), TNSCST, IIT PALS and NRDC for our student projects.
We are regularly published and attend international and national level conferences. We hold several patents to our credit.
