These words sum up the philosophy of Dr. K.C.G. Verghese, a man who overcame daunting odds to become a top-ranking educationist and the visionary who built the Hindustan Group of Institutions. An ardent patriot, he recognised the role of quality technical education in nation building. Consequently, he championed engineering education, enabling students from all backgrounds to realise their potential. His enthusiasm, perseverance, vision, and networking skills provided a platform for many to shape their careers.
A firm believer in the life-changing capabilities of learning, hardwork and commitment; he led by example, building the edifice of the Hindustan Group, which today has over 5000 students, 1000 staff members, and a remarkable alumni network of 50,000.
His autobiography, “Wheels and Wings,” is a reflection of his love for adventure, his indomitable spirit and his ability to lead from the front. A great human being and an unforgettable personality, Dr. Verghese valued friendship and respect above all.
