PLACEMENT GUIDANCE

1. Build a Strong Foundation

ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE (CGPA MATTERS)

● Aim for a CGPA of 7.0+ (some top companies set this as a cut-off).
● However, skills and projects matter more in technical interviews.

CORE TECHNICAL SKILLS

For IT/CSE Graduates:
● Programming Languages: C, C++, Java, Python (pick at least one).
● Data Structures & Algorithms (DSA): Solve problems on LeetCode, GeeksforGeeks, CodeForces, or HackerRank.
● Database: SQL (joins, indexing, optimization).
● Operating Systems, OOPs, DBMS, Networking, and System Design (for product- based companies).
● Web Development (React, Node.js, Django, Spring Boot, etc.) or App Development (Flutter, Android, iOS) for full-stack roles.

For Core Branches (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, etc.):
● Master fundamental concepts.
● Learn tools/software related to your domain (AutoCAD, MATLAB, SolidWorks, ANSYS, etc.).
● Consider learning Basics of “C”, Python, IoT , or Data Analytics, as they are in demand across industries.

For All Branches:
● Basics of Excel, Power BI, SQL for analytics roles.
● Cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud) can be useful.

2. Resume & LinkedIn Profile Optimization

RESUME TIPS
● Keep it to one or two pages (unless you have extensive projects/internships).
● Include skills, projects, internships, achievements, certifications, and extracurriculars.
● Use action words like “Developed,” “Implemented,” “Optimized,” etc.Tailor your resume for each job role.

LinkedIn AND GitHUB PROFILE
● Maintain an updated LinkedIn profile (add skills, projects, and recommendations).
● Showcase your GitHub or portfolio website with projects.
● Engage in networking, connect with recruiters, and join LinkedIn job groups.

3. Placement Preparation Roadmap

APTITUDE AND REASONING (FOR WRITTEN TEST)
● Companies like Cognizant,TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Capgemini, Accenture conduct aptitude tests.
● Prepare through our preplacement training & Aptipedia book.
● Practice quantitative aptitude, logical reasoning, and verbal ability.

CODING PRACTICE (FOR TECH JOBS)
● Solve 1000+ DSA problems on platforms like LeetCode, CodeChef.
●Focus on arrays, strings, linked lists, recursion, stacks, queues, graphs, and dynamic programming.
● Learn competitive programming (for product-based companies like Google, Microsoft, Amazon, etc.).

GROUP DISCUSSION
● Practice GD topics on current affairs, technology trends, or abstract topics.
● Stay updated on recent trends (AI, blockchain, sustainability, 5G, etc.).
● Be clear, concise, and confident while speaking.

TECHNICAL INTERVIEWS
● Prepare frequently asked interview questions from sites like Glassdoor.
● Be thorough with projects and internships (you’ll be asked to explain them).
● For core branches, revise basic concepts and industrial applications.

HR INTERVIEW
● Prepare common HR questions:

“Tell me about yourself”
“Why should we hire you?”
“Where do you see yourself in 5 years?”
“What are your strengths and weaknesses?”
“How long will you work for us?”
“Are you ready to relocate from time to time as per business needs?”
“Tell the one challenging incident in life which your handed successfully”
“How good of a team player are you?”
“Share the most memorable team work which stands out in your past?’

● Focus on confidence, communication skills, and positive attitude.

4. Off-Campus Job Search (If Needed)

● Internshala (for internships)
● AngelList (for startups)

REFERALS AND NETWORKING
● Connect with professionals on LinkedIn and ask for referrals.
● Engage in open-source projects, hackathons, and coding competitions.

5. Continuous Learning & Growth

● Consider certifications (AWS, Google Cloud, Coursera, Udemy,Nasscom approved certifications etc.).
● Learn soft skills (communication, leadership, time management).
● If not placed, internships & freelance work can boost your resume.
● IExplore higher studies (M.Tech, MBA, MS, or certifications like PMP).

Final Tips for Success

● Start preparing early (at least 1 year before placements).
● Build minimum 3 projects to showcase practical knowledge.
● Keep track of job openings and placement calendars released by KCG Portal, off campus opportunities in open markets.
● Stay positive—rejections are part of the process, learn improve and reappear with necessary skills and confidence!
