About the
Department

Established in 1998, the Department of Mechanical Engineering at KCG Tech, stands as a testament to our institution’s dedication to academic excellence and innovation. Permanently affiliated with Anna University and recognized as a distinguished Research Centre, the department enrolls 120 undergraduate students and 18 postgraduate students annually, with a focus on Manufacturing Engineering.

Our department is driven by a mission to cultivate highly skilled professionals poised to excel in a variety of fields, including industry, finance, consultancy, and public services. Ranked among the top 21 institutions by AICTE-CII and accredited by the NBA under the revised norms since June 2017, the Department of Mechanical Engineering is committed to maintaining the highest standards of education and research.

Our students actively participate in SAE-BAJA and SUPRA, FFS-FMAE, ISNEE- QUADTORC, GKDC, GOKART and PALS INNOWAH project competitions every year and win individual and team awards.

We take pride in our state-of-the-art facilities, which include cutting-edge projects and research laboratories. These labs are outfitted with advanced equipment such as Water Hammer Forming tools, Extrusion Machines, Stir Casting Machines, Pot Erosion Testers, Computerized Universal Testing Machines (UTM), and Dual Fuel Engine Setups, providing our students and researchers with unparalleled resources to explore and innovate. Our department has received nearly INR 24 lakh in funding from DST –IEDC, AICTE(RPS), IE(I), TNSCST, IIT PALS and NRDC for our student projects.
