Empowering the YOUth Series 7 on the topic “Big Data” was conducted on 20th April, 2023 between 2.00 pm – 4.00 pm @ Mirza Auditorium the resource person being Ms Manohari Jayachandran, Software Engineer II, Blue Yonder and the program was organised by KCG Tech in collaboration with Aspire For Her. The “Big Data” course was being offered by IBM, and on completion our students were offered with a course completion badge which the students can add it on to their resume and LinkedIn profile.

Ms Manohari Jayachandran educated our students about the history of big data, how and from where the data is collected, and its uses, how the companies use it as a resource, etc… the program educated our students with an idea about big data, its future and how students can venture into it and to take it as their career.

Empowering the Youth Series 8 on the topic “Project Management Fundamental” was conducted on 20th May, 2023 between 11:00 am – 12:30 pm at KMC Hall and Mirza Auditorium. The resource persons from Aspire For Her were Ms. Manohari Jayachandran, Software Engineer II – Blue Yonder and Ms K Bindhu, Analyst – Healthcare Technology.

The event aimed to provide students with essential knowledge and skills in project management. The event attracted first-year students from various streams who were interested in enhancing their project management capabilities. Around 550 number of I year students from all the departments attended the session to learn and acquire fundamental project management skills.

The session highlights were:
a) Introduction to Project Management:
The session started by introducing the concept of project management and its significance in various industries. She highlighted the essential skills required to manage projects effectively.

b) Project Management Fundamentals:
The speakers covered key project management fundamentals, including project lifecycle, planning, scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and stakeholder management. Participants gained insights into the importance of project scope, objectives, and deliverables.

c) Tools and Techniques:
Practical tools and techniques used in project management, such as Gantt charts, work breakdown structures, and critical path analysis were shared. Participants learned how these tools could facilitate effective project planning and monitoring.

d) Case Studies and Real-life Examples:
To provide a practical understanding, the session included case studies and real-life examples showcasing successful project management strategies. Students were encouraged to actively engage and analyze these examples to reinforce their learning.

e) Q&A Session:
The event concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session. Participants had the opportunity to clarify their doubts and seek further insights from the speakers.

f) Conclusion:
The IBM Digital Marathon event on “Project Management Fundamentals Empowering the Youth Series” was a successful endeavour to equip first-year students with essential project management skills. The speakers’ expertise and practical insights, coupled with the collaboration of the college’s faculty, created a valuable learning environment. The event fostered the participants’ understanding of project management concepts and their applicability in real-world scenarios, empowering them for future projects.

The course was offered by IBM, and on completion our students were offered with a course completion badge which the students can add it on to their resume and LinkedIn profile.

Overall, the event provided an excellent platform for knowledge exchange and skill development in project management, enabling the youth to embark on their professional journeys with a strong foundation in project management principles.

FOUNDER’S 83RD BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION

The 83rd Birthday celebration of our Founder Chairman late Dr. K.C.G.Verghese was held on 20th June 2023 at the University campus at Padur.

Mr. M.M. Rajendran, Former Governor of Odisha & Former Chief Secretary of Tamil Nadu was the Chief Guest and gave the special message in the presence of Dr. Mrs. Elizabeth Verghese, Founder Chairperson, Dr. Anand Jacob Verghese, Chairman, Members of the Management, Principals, Faculty & staff of Hindustan Group of Institutions. Dr. Anand Jacob Verghese, Chairman of HGI delivered the Presidential address.

The students of KCG College of Technology and Hindustan International School gave excellent performances on this occasion.

As a part of the celebration and to make this day more special, the Chief Guest and the other dignitaries planted tree saplings in the University Campus. On this occasion, 2000 underprivileged were also fed in various places to celebrate the life of our Founder Chairman.

Silver Jubilee Alumni meet @ Mirza Seminar Theatre

The Silver Jubilee Alumni meet of KCG College of Technology was organised on the 15th of July, 2023. The event saw enthusiastic participation from the Alumni who attended. Though the attendance was not very high, the participation was energetic.

Principal Dr M Muthukannan welcomed the gathering and expressed that he would like to see greater participation from the Alumni members in the college events. Director Dr Annie Jacob delivered the presidential address and expressed her happiness in meeting the alumni and invited them to share their views and suggestions.

The alumni members were very forth coming in their interaction and suggested a day long meet to facilitate more networking among the alumni. Mr Kishore Kumar, President of KCG Connect-alumni association of KCG College of Technology assured the college of all support from alumni when he gave his talk.

Head-Alumni Dr Amrutha, thanked the management for the support in the conduct of the meet and thanked the alumni for the response.

The first year students gave a dance and music performance. The meet ended with a DJ for the alumni
