Faculty Development Programme is an effort to enrich engineers, architects and people involved in research and development activities including planners, decision makers, academicians and research scholars with research literacy in general and recent trends in scientific and technical communication in particular. The FDP aims to impart skills to handle different tools and technologies useful during entire process of research and scholarly communications.
This faculty development programme was organized from 21’st to 25th February, 2023 at KCG College of Technology on the above mentioned topic. This was a five days Faculty Development Programme where various related subtopics were discussed in detail by eminent experts from Industry and academia guided the participants on various aspects of research in Wireless communication.
The faculty development programme was inaugurated on 21’st Feb 2023 at 09:30 am. There were 36 external participants from different colleges and institutes and around 25 participants from KCG College of Technology. The dignitaries on the stage were Mrs. Jalaja Madan Mohan – Head TCPAS IGCAR, Dr. Kavitha Balamurugan – HoD/ECE, Dr. Jose Anand, Professor, Dept of ECE, KCG College of technology.
The programme commenced with a Prayer song by KCG choir team, the inaugural lecture was delivered Mrs. Jalaja Madan Mohan – Head TCPAS IGCAR in which she mainly focussed on the research going on 5G Wireless communication
The next lecture was given by Mr. J. Santhana Krishnan, DY. General Manager (Retd), BSNL in which he gave highlights of IoT in the Era of 5G its significance over conventional techniques. This marked the end on first day programme.

On second day technical session 2 and technical session 3 were organized. The day started off with the lecture of Dr. C. Shyam Anand, Principal Engineer, Oppo Mobiles, Hyderabad. His talk was on Aplication of AI in Edge Devices. Participants discussed over various aspects with the speaker and the discussion until 11:45 am, thereafter we left for tea break.

The next lecture (session 3) was given by Dr. Pandiyarasan Velusamy, Professor – IIITDM in the area of 5G and Wearable Technologies. Participants interacted with the expert during the session. This marked the end of second day program.
On third day technical session 4 & 5 were addressed by Dr. Uma Kumari C.R & Dr. B. Venkatalakshmi. Dr. Uma Kumari C. R, Assistant Professor (SG) enlightened the participants about Role of Optical Sensors in 5G/6G. Various case studies were discussed and the skills required were elaborated. Dr. B. Venkatalakshmi , SME, L&T TECH, delivered a
talk on Mobile Clouds, She also made it interactive by logging onto Menti.com for surprise quiz session for participants . In all, the technical sessions provided a good learning experience

On the fourth day the technical session 6 & 7 were organized. Participants were fortunate to listen to Dr. Ganesh Madhan, Professor & Head – MIT, Chennai. Prof. Ganesh Madhan discussed on the Optical technology available for 5G. The various competencies that need to be developed and the preparation required from the side of the researchers were discussed. Session 7 was addressed by Dr. Kavitha Balamurugan, Professor & Head – ECE, KCG College of Technology, Chennai. The topic of discussion was on FSO in 5G. She provided various case studies and doubts of the participants regarding the same were clarified. The session was followed by lunch.

On day Five the morning session was addressed by Mr. J. Santhana Krishnan, DY. General Manager (Retd), BSNL where he talked Cyber Security Implications in 5G, various questions were raised on the topic by participants which made the discussion very lively. After tea break the last session of the FDP i.e. the valedictory session was held. Report of the FDP was presented by Mrs. R. Maheswari, Assistant Professor, ECE, KCG College of Technology.

Participants shared their experiences, Most of them talked about their enriching experience at the FDP. Distribution of E- Certificates were discussed to the participants and votes of thanks was given by Dr. Kavitha Balamurugan, Head- ECE and concluded the Five days faculty development programme.

The technical expert lecture on the most trending and promising area of Data Science took place in KCG College of Technology in association with CSI Kancheepuram Chapter on 04/03/2023. The event named “Data Analytics & Technical Stack” was organized by the Department of Information Technology in association with CSI Kancheepuram Chapter and was conducted at 10.45-11.45 am in KMC auditorium.
About the Speaker
The speaker of the event was Mr.Gurusivaraman, Principal Consultant-Consultant Analytics, Infosys, Chennai. He has around 21+ years of progressive IT experience as a Principal Analytics Consultant/Program Manager with rich expertise in Retail, CPG, Supply Chain Logistics, Brazil Finance & Taxation, Pricing and Promotion domain. Currently he is managing large advanced analytics global program for top CPG client BAT. He provides predictive analytics in pricing and promotions for their revenue growth management team by implementing advanced analytics solutions. He has deep expertise in Retail Supply Chain Logistics as has worked with top clients like Walmart, JCP, Macy’s and BNSF. He has received multiple certifications from IIT Roorkee on “Data Analytics with Python” and from IIT Madras on “Data Science for Engineers”. He is also well versed in Cloud, DevOps, No-code and Low- code technologies.
Content of the Lecture
The lecture on the area of Data Science and its industry approach insisted more on its architecture, components, life cycle, platforms and tools used in the industry. The speaker gave a deep knowledge on the industry tech stack and various opportunities. The major factor which influences data science from other disciplines is value discovery and future prediction. There are various platforms available for performing Data Science. Mahout is a major machine learning library which can be directly integrated with Map Reduce to implement algorithms on huge data. The speaker listed out the industries where data science is implemented. He concluded his speech quoting that “Data Science opens new streams of opportunities, enhance the productivity, increases efficiency and delivers value”.

The audience of the lecture were second year and third year students of Information Technology, Computer Science and AI-DS. The speaker was felicitated with a memento on behalf of KCG College of Technology.

KCG Women’s Coding Club has organized a Hackathon- Women Codeathon 5.O for girl students on 4.3.22 (Saturday). The event started with a formal inauguration by Ms. Anju A, KCG Women’s Club Coordinator. The contest started at 11.00 am, the girl students from various department had registered and participated in the event. Around 60 students had registered and 20 teams (50 students) had participated for the Hackathon-. Students were asked to solve different problem statements in different domains. Students were asked to do a presentation and to show working application of their idea. The invited panel members Ms Aishwarya and Mr Sundarapandian (CSE 2020 alumni) from Zoho corporation evaluated the teams for creativity, novelty and presentation of their idea. Judges appreciated the students involvement and creativity and asked them to extend their imagination to next level. Students had shared their experiences about the Codeathon, they were very enthusiastic and excited to solve each challenge. The event ended at 3.15 PM with vote of thanks.
