The workshop on Elegant Graces: Navigating dresses and Dining etiquettes, was conducted by the Center for Transformational Leadership, under the direction of the faculty coordinators,
executive members and the president of the club on 31 st August 2024. The workshop was an initiative to foster etiquette and manners in future leaders to help them lead a successful
professional and personal life. It aimed to equip the students with basic etiquettes and decencies to portray themselves as a strong leader with utmost professionalism. The workshop
was carried out by Ms. Bela Susan Thomas, Product Marketer at Zoho Corporation, who has a vast experience of being in the social fields and working with people. With her knowledge and
life experiences, she was set to transform how the students would carry themselves in workplaces and social settings. The workshop covered basic etiquettes on being social,
educating the students to be polite and kind to their fellow beings. The etiquettes of being in a workplace were easily made understandable to the students by Ms. Thomas’ engaging
questions and humor. She connected very well with the students and made them feel comfortable to learn. She enacted a few scenarios and had the students wonder what is the
right thing to do, helping students put themselves in another person’s shoes and think critically. Ms. Thomas also handed out small gifts to students who actively engaged and answered,
encouraging others to speak up and grab the opportunities when presented. She ended her workshop with the most important etiquette, Dining etiquettes. She helped the students
understand the necessity of following the dining etiquettes and adopting a way of being at the dining table to present themselves as an estimable person. The workshop ended on a positive
note with the students now fully aware of the basic etiquettes they need to follow to lead a wonderful life. The Center for Transformational Leadership club thanks Ms. Bela Susan Thomas
for bringing us her valuable expertise and making the session a resounding success.

The Center for Transformational Leadership hosted a Design Thinking Workshop – Series 1 on 14th September 2024, specifically for second-year CTL members. Students from various departments participated enthusiastically in the session. The workshop was led by Mr. Sakthivel Shanmugam, Senior Engineer at Markers Lab, who highlighted the key differences between “Business,” “Start-ups,” and “Entrepreneurship.”
Mr. Sakthivel introduced the concept of design thinking, explaining how it revolves around a human-centered approach to innovation that integrates customer empathy, creative problem-solving, and strategic execution. He guided participants through the stages of empathizing with customers, defining problems based on their needs, ideating solutions, creating prototypes, and testing those prototypes to find the most effective solution. He also shared valuable insights into marketing strategies, emphasizing how understanding and meeting consumer demands is essential for success.
One memorable quote from Mr. Sakthivel was, “Don’t love your idea, love your problem,” encouraging participants to focus on solving the problem rather than abandoning it if an idea fails. Real-life examples and videos were used to help students grasp the core principles of design thinking. The session also provided an overview of market opportunities and steps for growth. The workshop concluded with an interactive Q&A, where students explored topics related to start-ups, design thinking, and entrepreneurship.
