Prof. Carlos Moslares, Dean, School of Business, IQS, University Ramon Llull, Barcelona, Spain visited for a Special Guest Lecture at Hindustan University. His lecture was on Effective Business Management. The students of Business Administration, Hindustan University attended the program. The PowerPoint Presentation prepared by him was simple in language and easy to understand. The presentation and lecture were well appreciated by the students.
The Physics Division of Science and Humanities Department organized a 3 day FDP on “Physics for Civil engineers and Material Science” to give an insight to the faculty of affiliated colleges into the revised syllabus of Anna University under Regulation 2017 for second semester Civil and Mechanical Students.
The FDP was attended by 14 faculties from various affiliated engineering colleges apart from the KCG staff.
Day 1(10.01.2018)
Inaugural
The FDP started with the Inaugural Session. The Principal Dr.G.Prabhakaran, Vice Principal Dr.SumathiPoobal and HOD, S&H Ms M B Binduattended the function. The function started with the invocation and lighting of Lamp. HOD, S&H welcomed the gathering . The Principal and Vice Principal expressed their happiness at such a program being organized and stressed the importance of the program. Ms.Linu Sam, the convener gave an insight about the program.
Technical Session 1
This session was taken by Dr.SuganthiDevadosan, Professor in Physics, Hindustan University. She spoke about lighting in Buildings. It was interesting that the talk covered many biological aspects as well when she spoke about eye and luminescence. The talk covered luminescence, radiance and the related laws. It was an excellent beginning.
Technical session 2
In this session Dr Amrutha, Associate Professor, KCG College of Technology spoke about Phase Diagrams. The talk was aimed at giving an overview of the basics of Phase Diagrams to the participants. The session explained to as what phases are and the significance of phase diagram and interpretation of unary phase diagrams.

Day 2 was action packed.
Technical Session 3
In continuation with the previous day’s talk. Dr Amrutha spoke about binary isomorphous phase diagram and microstructure development. An insight was also given into Fick’s Law of Diffusion.
Technical Session 4
Dr JessyRooby , HOD and Professor, Department of Civil Engineering , Hindustan University gave a talk about Seismology and Seismic Waves. The session was very interesting . She gave an insight into the recalibrated seismic zones and how they are identified apart from covering topics related tectonics, seismic waves etc.
Technical Session 5
In a Seamless follow Dr Pratheeba Paul, Professor, Department of Civil Engineering , Hindustan University spoke about Cyclone and Hazards. There was an added interest in this session given the fact that Tamil Nadu had faced two devastating cyclones in the past one year. The talk took off beautifully starting from the basic terminologies in weather and how cyclones form. It was a spell binding talk.
Technical Session 6
Dr T S Ravikumar, Professor, Department of MechanicalEngineering ,Hindustan University gave a talk on Air conditioning and Cooling systems. This talk was filled with huge information. He briefed the audience about refrigeration techniques and wonderfully connected it to air-conditioning. It was fascinating to see slides and also learn about the different air conditioning techniques.
Technical Session 7
This was an Invited speech by Dr Jawahar, Head, Production Engineering, Velammal College of Engineering. He gave a new dimension to materials when he spoke about Rubber Technology and its mechanical Properties. His widespread knowledge in this field was evident.

Technical Session 8
Dr Siddarthan , Associate Professor, Department of Production Technology, Madras Institute of Technology gave an insightful talk into the advanced concepts of Phase Diagrams. He explained about the various laws involved and the microstructure formations and grain boundaries.
Technical Session 9
Dr Vijayalaxmi, Associate Professor, School of Architecture and Planning, Anna University spoke in this session about Thermal Performance of Buildings. This was an extremely interactive session where the speaker interacted with the participants and made a lucid presentation relating to various factors contributing to thermal performance of building. She kept the audience spell bound.
Technical Session 10
Dr Easu, Associate Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, KCG College of Technology spoke about Fracture Mechanics and Tensile Strength and gave demonstrations and explanation regarding concepts like tensile strength and hardness and how materials are tested and designed.
Feed Back Session
The participants gave an excellent feed back about the 3 day program and reiterated that there were lot of take aways from the program. All of them felt that the initial apprehension they had with the syllabus existed no more. There was also a special mention about the excellent hospitality. The participants also made a special request to have a Whatsapp group to discuss the concepts and ideas when needed.
The Program ended with a vote of thanks by the Organising Secretary Dr Amrutha who thanked the Management, Principal , Vice Principal, HOD, S&H, Electrical and House keeping support and the participants in particular for making this an outstanding program

The Business meeting was attended by the Principal, Vice Principal, Head-International Affairs, Heads of the Department of MECH, CIVIL and EIE. In the Business Meeting Prof. Roy suggested that our students could take up one year Master of Science program in UK in various field. The possibility of combined research by staff members was also discussed.
Dr. Rajkumar Roy then addressed the students of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at 3 pm at the Seminar hall. During his address Dr. Roy explained the various one year Master of Science programs that students could take in UK. He gave a PowerPoint Presentation about their University which is the only recognized post graduate University in UK.s
Mr. Jasmider Khanna, South Asia Manager International partnership and student recruitment, Cranfield University, UK gave a clear idea about the tuition fee, accommodation and other details for the students who wish to take up higher studies in UK. He also described the entire process of filling up the application form and the admission procedure.
Speaker: A. Alagu Vairamuthu, Asst Manager (Aircraft Technical service Engineer), Jet Airways
This seminar is an ideal platform for whoever wants to pursue in maintenance field. Mr Alagu vairamuthu who is an alumni of M.I.T Chennai, currently working as an aircraft technical service engineer in Jet Airways delivered the lecture. The seminar was attended by third year students of Aeronautical Department along with staffs. HoD Dr. K. Vijayaraja started the seminar by introducing the speaker. Mr. Alagu Vairamuthu started the seminar with his experience in MIT Chennai and how he faced his subjects, which was followed by the basic idea about maintenance required for an aircraft. He listed out the job opportunities based on maintenance and frame repairing. He shared his experience working with top company and the difficulties he faced in solving the problems with the aircraft. He has experience in training the students and workers for the particular aircraft. He shared his photos taken while working in air India and jet airways.
He gave a new idea to the students about the frame repairing work and possible methods of repairing. It was very useful to the students to direct themselves into the right field. Later there was an interaction section between students and the speaker. Various interesting quires were asked by the students and also by staffs. He also gave a brief idea about the higher studies and the sectors were the maintenance-oriented jobs are available. The seminar came to an end by giving a memento to the speaker as a token of love by Dr. Asad Ahmed. R, Asso Professor.
The Indian Concrete Institute (ICI)- Student Chapter was inaugurated by the Chief GuestDr. H. G. Sreenath (Technical Director, CCTRF Chennai), and Mr. R. Radhakrishnan (Secretary General, ICI-Chennai) along with our respected Principal – KCG College of Technology, and HoD/Civil Engg. The Chairman of the Student Chapter was announced as S. Suganya and Secretary as C. Akshaya(IV Year / Students).Dr. H. G. Sreenathdiscussed about ICI chapters all over India and its various operations, followed by his technical speech.

| The last lecture of the two days seminar explained various properties of high volume fly ash concrete and the experimental investigation done by the author to study the various properties of the high-volume fly-ash replaced structures in her research project. An extensive idea about the behaviour and properties of high volume fly ash concrete was the yield of the session. | |
The “Trailhead students championship-2018” organized by the ICT academy offers an exclusive 24hour learning of modules, comprising of advanced technology topics including soft skills, business, developer, and self development topics, thus enabling the students to apply them as soon as possible. This creates an environment for learning that is speeding up comprehension and application to levels that aren’t seen elsewhere. More than 120 Colleges across India participated in this competition.
On Feb 2nd,the inaugural session of the “Trailhead students championship-2018″took place at 10.30 am in the presence of several dignitaries including our honourable chief guest Ms.Poonkuzhalie, our respected Principal- Dr.G.Prabhakaran, HOD of the Computer science department -Dr.M Krishnamurthy and HOD of the Information technology department- Dr.J Frank Vijay. The session took place in Mirza hall and approximately 100 participants were in attendance.
The session took place with the HOD of Computer science department welcoming the gathering. Next, the felicitation took place where our respected principal felicitated the participants and welcomed the chief guest. Later, our honourable chief guest Ms.Poonkuzhalie provided some wonderful suggestions for the participants. Finally the HOD of Information technology department shared his thoughts on the events and gave some valuable advice.
The inaugural session came to an end with a small video clipping on the Learnathon. The participants headed to their respective laboratories and started with their 24 hour contest at 12.00 pm. The contestants participated with much enthusiasm and worked towards achieving the maximum number of badges and points in the contest.
The contest finally ended at 12.00pm on 3rd Feb 2018 followed by the distribution of certificates. First Three Places were secured by Students of CSE Department out of 100 Participants from our College.
The Popularisation of Science Program was organised by KCG College of Technology on the 8th and 9th of February, 2018. The Faculty and Students organized experiments with materials used in daily life and demonstrated scientific concepts to the students of schools.
The Physics Staff demonstrated experiments explaining concepts such as surface tension, Magnetic fields, Microwaves and Light propagation.
The Chemistry Staff demonstrated experiments to explain concepts such as States of matter, Combustion, Oxidation, Reduction and Precipitation
The schools covered were Government school, Madambakkam, SAN academy, Pallikaranai, MCC Campus Matriculation School, Tambaram and Narayana E-Techno School, Pallavaram. The program was very well received by the schools and the school authorities asked for continuous interaction with the college.

E-week 2018 was celebrated during 10 th February – 16 th February in a very grand
manner living up to the expectations both inside and outside our college campus.
Cloud10 , Our E-cell team with our sincere efforts made sure the theme of the E-
week reached every participants and the public. We have attracted more than 500
students through our E-week events and reached out to hundreds of civilians,
teaching them about entrepreneurship the best way they can understand.
We Kick started E-week celebration with Startup carnival, where successful
Entrepreneurs met and spoke to the students the different ways they can develop the
entrepreneur in them.
We also conducted walkathon in the public, and helped the onlookers and side
walkers understand the theme of E-week. Number of flash mob were also conducted
in the college campus promoting the E-week.
One day in the week was specially dedicated to discover the entrepreneur in the
women through, women entrepreneurship program. Cloud10 also reached out to 3
schools in the sub urban and educated over 200 students about entrepreneurship and
conducted various activities, presented them with gifts to motivate and inspire them.
Our team also reached out to a rural area, Kannagi Nagar in the outskirts of our city
and delivered talks and played videos to help them understand the real difference an
entrepreneur can make in this society. “An Entrepreneurs sees profit and market in
everything he sees.” That’s exactly what was expected when our participants were
given a chance to make product out of wastes and they totally nailed it. Winners
were presented with Books and Gift coupons.
We brought people from the travel & tourism sector who taught the students about
how their organizations work and also offered them with internships. Who can
inspire students than students themselves? One day was entirely dedicated to the
devoted entrepreneurs cum students in our college to share their entrepreneurial
story and how they are living their dream. The participants were promised
internships and even jobs if they really impressed the student Entrepreneurs.
We made sure every participant of the E-week take the E-week pledge to break
barriers, create wealth and change India. Thus, Our E-week 2018 was nothing short
of wonderful opportunities, exposure, educating people and spreading
Entrepreneurship. We also never compromised on attracting the netizens and made
sure we spread the word on Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp with our Videos and
posts. E-week 2018 let lot of students and people live their entrepreneurial dream.
About the Tournament
Dr.KCG Memorial Tamilnadu inter school Invitation tournament was the initative of our Director & CEO Dr.Anand Jacob Verghese, Director & CEO (Hindustan Group of Institutions) on the occasion of memorial of our beloved Founder Chairman Dr.KCGVerghese who was the source of inspiration for every one with his Vision statement “To make every man success,and no man failure. Sports plays vital role in imparting overall development in students and he always encouraged students to play games and sports. Here at KCG, Department of Physical Education organise this tournament every year in his remembrance.

This tournament was inaugurated on 14thFebuary 2018 by our beloved principal Dr.G. Prabhakaran by kicking off the ball at football court at 9 am in the morning

The Hindustan Group of Institutions observed Founder (late) Dr KCG Verghese Memorial Day on February 14, 2018 at KCG College of Technology. All members of the Hindustan fraternity were present on this solemn occasion. The chief guest Mr. Charles Money, Founder Young Generation Leadership Ministries, combined humour and serious advice to deliver a stirring message in which he asked everyone to follow the three Ps of Passion, Purpose and Prayer. He gave examples of how youngsters had overcome various disadvantages to become figures of inspiration to all around the world. Dr Elizabeth Verghese, Chairperson of the Hindustan Group, in her presidential address, shared vivid glimpses of the late Founder Chairman and emphasized the need for ethical values in our lives.
A cheque for a dialysis machine was presented to the Tanker Foundation by Dr Anand Jacob Verghese, Director and CEO, HGI. Receiving the cheque, Ms Latha Kumarasawmi thanked the Hindustan management and mentioned the many times Dr KCG’s family had helped the foundation in their services to patients affected with kidney disorders.
A video presentation on the life of Dr KC G Verghese was shown for the edification of the gathering. Bible Readings and excerpts from the late founders autobiography ‘Wheels and Wings’ by students of the various Hindustan International Schools, hymns by staff choir of KCG, HCAS, and HITS were some of the other events that marked the solemn programme. The ceremony ended with a closing prayer and benediction by Rev. Thomas Alexander, Vicar of St Paul’s Mar Thoma Church, Adyar.
