On 8th January, 2020, a  day long  workshop on VMware Technology in a Day (Software Defined Storage Concepts) in association with ICT Academy, was inaugurated at KCG College of Technology by Head of the Computer Science and Engineering Department – Dr. M. Krishnamurthy.

Dr M. Krishnamurthy Head – CSE, Enlightened students the Purpose of this workshop being conducted for Final Years and the Objectives of this workshop was cited by him. He also emphasised students to learn the cloud technology skills to make them on par with industry standards. VMware has designed the VMware IT Academy Program for Technical Institutions across the Globe to introduce graduating students to VMware technologies and equip them with VMware technical skills to complement their chosen fields of study. VMware provides selected academic institutions through the VMware Regional IT Academy with the courses and programs developed by VMware.

By instituting this program, VMware seeks to create a collaborative relationship with Academic institutions in India whereby their students may obtain the VMware training and certifications which could enable employment in firms seeking skilled workers in virtualization and cloud computing.

Through VMware IT Academy, Software-Defined Storage Concepts provides an overview of the key concepts related to storage in the data center and attributes of software-defined storage. It also introduces the hyper converged infrastructure and storage vSAN. Upon completion of this micro-course, the learner will have the basic understanding of storage virtualization, the software-defined data center, and basics of vSAN architecture. Additionally, the learner will be able to identify types of software-defined storage, the layers of a software-defined storage model, and components of a hyper converged storage vSAN. Online accessible through NDG Online or through a Learning Tool Interoperability (LTI) cartridge that can be uploaded into your own Learning Management System (LMS)
