The department of Mechanical Engineering organized a Guest Lecture on “Building Energy and Comfort “  at Mirza Seminar Theatre on 31.08.17. The lecture was presented by Dr. Srinarayana Nagarathinam who is a well known resource person in HVAC field. (Heating, Ventilation and air – Conditioning) Students from various departments attended the guest lecture and got to see a glimpse of what “Building Energy and Comfort” exactly is.

This Guest lecture discussed about how the energy can be conserved under different circumstances. Modern systems of Heat ventilation and Air conditioning systems would soon replace many primitive ways of ventilation systems. In his key note, he talked about how HVAC can be distributed under different working environment. With many analytical graphs he taught us how the system can change according to the number of people in the room. He also highlighted  how the future engineers must be equipped with new skill sets to cope up with these developments. Students and future engineers must now realize that merely graduating with a degree is no longer enough to achieve a successful career in engineering, rather they must take the initiative to learn new things and develop intellectually in order to make themselves employable in the future.

The Guest Lecture emphasized to develop, analyze and apply various concepts like thermodynamics, heat and mass transfer, psychrometry etc. Dr. Srinarayana Nagarathinam encouraged the students to broaden their minds and equip themselves with new and trending skill sets in the HVAC systems and to adapt to these new systems.

The Guest Lecture was indeed an eye-opener for all, and helped the students to be aware of the future trends in the Building Energy and Comfort.
