Empowering the Youth Series 8 on the topic “Project Management Fundamental” was conducted on 20th May, 2023 between 11:00 am – 12:30 pm at KMC Hall and Mirza Auditorium. The resource persons from Aspire For Her were Ms. Manohari Jayachandran, Software Engineer II – Blue Yonder and Ms K Bindhu, Analyst – Healthcare Technology.

The event aimed to provide students with essential knowledge and skills in project management. The event attracted first-year students from various streams who were interested in enhancing their project management capabilities. Around 550 number of I year students from all the departments attended the session to learn and acquire fundamental project management skills.

The session highlights were:
a) Introduction to Project Management:
The session started by introducing the concept of project management and its significance in various industries. She highlighted the essential skills required to manage projects effectively.

b) Project Management Fundamentals:
The speakers covered key project management fundamentals, including project lifecycle, planning, scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and stakeholder management. Participants gained insights into the importance of project scope, objectives, and deliverables.

c) Tools and Techniques:
Practical tools and techniques used in project management, such as Gantt charts, work breakdown structures, and critical path analysis were shared. Participants learned how these tools could facilitate effective project planning and monitoring.

d) Case Studies and Real-life Examples:
To provide a practical understanding, the session included case studies and real-life examples showcasing successful project management strategies. Students were encouraged to actively engage and analyze these examples to reinforce their learning.

e) Q&A Session:
The event concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session. Participants had the opportunity to clarify their doubts and seek further insights from the speakers.

f) Conclusion:
The IBM Digital Marathon event on “Project Management Fundamentals Empowering the Youth Series” was a successful endeavour to equip first-year students with essential project management skills. The speakers’ expertise and practical insights, coupled with the collaboration of the college’s faculty, created a valuable learning environment. The event fostered the participants’ understanding of project management concepts and their applicability in real-world scenarios, empowering them for future projects.

The course was offered by IBM, and on completion our students were offered with a course completion badge which the students can add it on to their resume and LinkedIn profile.

Overall, the event provided an excellent platform for knowledge exchange and skill development in project management, enabling the youth to embark on their professional journeys with a strong foundation in project management principles.
