Aim:-
To measure the major diameter, minor diameter and effective diameter of the threads using floating carriage micrometer.
Apparatus used:-
Floating carriage micrometer, fiducial indicator, two wire, prism, micrometer with anvil
Click on the standard setting cylinder and drag to the anvil position
(then click verify button)
Click master cylinder, then submit and note the Micrometer reading value Rs.
Click on the thread gauge for measurement and drag to the anvil position.
Select the thread gauge and click submit button to note down micrometer reading R (for threaded gauge). Major dia = D + (Rs~R) where D = Diameter of the master setting cylinder = 16 mm.
Apply prism on either side of the thread gauge and fix on the anvil. Click the submit button. Minor dia = D-(R~R0)
Apply two wire on the thread gauge and fix on the anvil. Click the submit button. E=T+P where [T=D+(Rw-Row)] & [P=(0.86603*p)-w] where p, pitch of thread = 2 mm & w, mean dia of wire = 1.35 mm
